☕ Good morning, Long Island!

☁️ It'll be mostly cloudy today with a high near 85 and a chance of showers and thunderstorms here and there.

✍🏼 Feel free to respond to this email with feedback!

📊 So I had a reader saying there's a Hooters in Fresh Meadows, Queens, and Queens is on Long Island, physically, so GLI was wrong to report there's only one Hooters left on Long Island.

🔽 I'm not looking to spark a debate. Just please vote in our poll:

First, Drunk driver plows over tents and artwork at Montauk Green: police

🚓 A Farmingville woman driving drunk plowed over tents and artwork on the Montauk Green early Sunday, destroying numerous pieces and prompting a string of criminal charges, East Hampton Town Police said.

🎨 Yet the art show went on anyway, but not without heartbreak, devastation — and now, a major community push to help the local artists.

Second, GLI got a peek at Toast’s 5th location, opening in Ronkonkoma

🍳 Toast Coffee + Kitchen is about to open its fifth Long Island location, this time at the brand-new Station Yards complex in Ronkonkoma.

🍝 And Vespa Italian opened there on Friday.

Third, fox or coyote? It could be hard to tell when they're on the move here on LI

🦊 Red foxes and Eastern coyotes have established territories across Nassau and Suffolk counties. But it could be tough to tell them apart, our expert says.

More headlines to highlight

🗞️ Brookhaven Town officials have announced “a major legal victory” against a corporate landlord they say has long plagued Mastic Beach with unsafe housing and widespread code violations.

🏦 Hanover Bank is the first tenant to move into the mixed-use One North apartment complex that was just built in Upper Port Jefferson.

🐼 Panda Express is bringing its Original Orange Chicken back to Long Island, this time to Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream.

🛒 A new Dollar General is preparing to open in Miller Place, quietly moving into a space left behind by the Rite Aid that closed in late 2023.
