GLI News: Long Island wants a Cracker Barrel!

By Mike White Β· Jan. 30, 2025

β˜• Happy Thursday, Long Island!

🍳 We just learned that Long Islanders really want a Cracker Barrel.

πŸ’ And did you know that New York newlyweds have the highest expectations for wedding gifts?

β˜€οΈ Today will be sunny with a high near 37 and still breezy, but nothing like yesterday.

A message from Mather Hospital

Mather Hospital has been recognized as one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals for 2025 by Healthgrades, placing it in the top 5 percent nationwide for clinical performance for a third consecutive year.

First, this closed Long Island strip bar is turning into a welcome center

πŸ‘  A two-story welcome center is now under construction at the western entrance to Smithtown β€” across from the bull monument. Yes, we are indeed talking about the former Oasis Gentlemen's Club, Bull Creek Inn.

Second, Dark Horse Tavern heads to downtown Bay Shore

The Dark Horse Tavern team has saddled up and is galloping into downtown Bay Shore. The goal is to open the new restaurant in March at the former American Standard whiskey bar location, marking the company's first foray into Suffolk County.

Third, more headlines to highlight

πŸš” The Suffolk police officer critically injured earlier this month on the Long Island Expressway has been released from Stony Brook Hospital.

πŸ” TGI Fridays has further scaled back its presence on Long Island by closing its Riverhead and Farmingville locations. Only two remain.

πŸ–οΈ Long Beach was just awarded $1.45 million from New York State to enhance amenities along its 2.25-mile stretch of Atlantic Ocean boardwalk.

πŸ’° And nearly $1.4 million is headed to Riverhead for its ambitious riverfront amphitheater project, part of a larger downtown makeover.
