β˜• Good morning, Long Island!

⚠️ I'm sending this email out again, because last night's was sent in error and I don't want people to have missed it. Still getting used to our new software here.

πŸ“° Greater LI broke some very big news this week. See below

✍🏼 Feel free to respond to this email with feedback.

First, massive IRS complex on LI appears to be on federal chopping block

🏒 The General Services Administration unveiled on Tuesday an expansive list of federal properties the agency is looking to sell, deeming them β€œdesignated for disposal,” including the IRS building in Holtsville.

πŸ–₯️ The GSA later removed the list from its website for revisions, but indicated "we anticipate the list will be republished in the near future."

πŸ—žοΈ Brookhaven Supervisor Dan Panico also weighed in on the property's future, saying medical technologies β€œseem like a possible use," should it be sold off.

🍫 To put the sheer size of the 75-acre property and 557,000-square-foot building into perspective, Hersheypark in Hershey, Pa., is 121 acres.

Second, wonderful news in Bethpage

🏑 A 13-year-old softball standout from Bethpage is back at home after spending weeks in the hospital receiving treatment for leukemia. Her family and friends are now hopeful she has turned the corner.

Third, more headlines to highlight

🏫 Authorities are continuing to investigate how a dozen William Floyd Middle School students got their hands on marijuana edibles they took at school.

🚨 Homicide detectives are investigating the murder of a 27-year-old man found on a Blue Point beach early Tuesday morning.

⚾ Three Suffolk County natives are taking the field for Army baseball this season, representing Long Island on the national stage.
