☕ Good morning, Long Island!

☀️ Today will be sunny, with a high near 76 and a nighttime low of 65. Best weather in the world. (Is there a place on Earth where it's like this year-round?)

💰 We're all still waiting to see if anyone won last night's $1.4 billion Powerball game. I had my losing ticket! But, a $1 million second-prize ticket for Sept. 1 was sold in Port Jeff. Read the story below.

🎙️ Yours truly was just a guest on a really big industry podcast, btw.

🥳 GLI was also recently featured in Poynter and The Press Gazzette of the U.K.

GREAT EATS

Did you know that you can order directly from Tap Room and they'll even deliver straight to your door? Ordering direct saves you money on menu items and fees compared to popular third-party delivery platforms.

First, Ross Dress for Less is hiring in Farmingville; opening bash is set

👜 Suffolk's first-ever Ross Dress for Less location is nearly set to debut in Farmingville at Expressway Plaza, 2280 N. Ocean Ave., next to Skechers and a few doors down from Burlington.

Second, Long Beach welcomes Sweet Street, a fair-inspired ice cream shop

🎡 Sweet Street — “For All Your Carnival Cravings” — is now open at 669 E. Park Ave. in Long Beach, scooping out more than just ice cream. Think fried Oreos, zeppoles, and funnel cakes taken to the next level.

Third, At Port Jeffer store, a $1 million Powerball ticket has locals buzzing

📰 By Tuesday morning, word had spread through Port Jefferson’s Village Grocery: someone who stopped into the shop for a Powerball ticket over the holiday weekend is now $1 million richer.

More headlines to highlight

🗞️ A man in cardiac arrest was rescued from the ocean Monday evening in Long Beach after nearly drowning near the Lincoln Jetty. He regained a pulse after CPR.

🚨 Suffolk detectives believe the truck that struck and killed a Manorville man in a hit-and-run crash Sunday night was likely a Dodge Ram.

🏠 This vintage 1928 home is at the moment the only stand‑alone property in Patchogue Village listed for under $400,000.

🏈 Southampton will not field a varsity football team this fall because it fell short of having the minimum number of players required to compete.

🍕 A familiar name in local pizza has found a new home in Farmingdale.

⛳ The PGA of America just announced it’s bringing a free fan experience into the heart of Manhattan. It’s called Ryder Cup Live, an immersive showcase in Rockefeller Center from Sept. 25 – Sept. 28.

🏇 Jessica Mendoza made history Sunday in Bridgehampton, capturing her first FEI 5-star victory at the Hampton Classic Horse Show.

🍝 A custom-built Rao’s replica is being built at Bethpage Black for the Ryder Cup later this month, bringing its famous red sauce, iconic décor, and old-school charm to Farmingdale, if only for a few days.
