First, some huge restaurant news

🍣 The much-anticipated opening of Okaru, a 2-story Japanese restaurant with NYC roots, happens this Thursday in Roslyn. This is the brainchild of Marc Spitzer of Plainview, the executive chef and a partner at BondST, whose NoHo location recently played host to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

🍔 In other food news, a planned restaurant last week received approval from the Brookhaven Town Board to get going in Manorville.

🍟 While we have you, this is much more than a food hall: Crave Court has opened in Lynbrook with different foodie concepts all under one roof.

Second, cops and courts

🚨 Two more men have been arrested in connection with the well-publicized December disappearance of a Patchogue teen, bringing the total to five. The girl has since been found.

🚔 New York State Trooper Thomas Mascia, who reported being shot in the leg on the Southern State Parkway in October, has been charged with fabricating the incident.

🏁 Suffolk cops nabbed two drivers for racing Sunday night in Medford.

Third, the New York Islanders in Montauk? Why not?

🏒 Remember when TikTok account cg3tv instructed AI to generate outdoor game concepts for every team in the NHL? Then he posted them all. AI had the Islanders playing in the shadow of the Montauk Lighthouse, the Island's most recognized landmark. And that got our wheels turning: Could it work? We think so! (Trigger warning: This is mostly tongue-in-cheek; that was lost on a lot of people commenting on Facebook.)
